Production Designer, Philip Dagort, comes from a varied background of music, architecture, theatre, television, theme park
design, and feature film work.  A native of Los Angeles whose family dates back to the music industry during the golden age
of the major studios, Mr. Dagort started studying music at an early age.  But, while still very young, his talents turned to
scenography and theatre set design.  That interest led to seeking a career in film production design with an architectural
degree as an educational background. 

Anxious to receive some hands-on training, Mr. Dagort began work as an assistant art director in television, gaining
experience in situation comedies, soap operas and commercials.  At the same time, he showcased his talents by designing
Theatre Sets for small companies in Los Angeles, for which he received favorable notices and a Drama-Logue Award.

Then an opportunity presented itself to work at Walt Disney Imagineering on their Theme Park expansion.  Two pieces of Mr. Dagort’s artwork, Mr. Toad as “Blue Boy” and Pinkie of Toad Hall, were featured in The Disney Gallery at Disneyland, California.

Mr. Dagort’s design work for Disney has continued over the years, including work on Disneyland Paris, and as Production
Designer on the Wonderful World of Disney’s The Tower of Terror , a movie based on their theme park ride. 

His art direction on film and television projects include Sam Raimi’s cult film Darkman, and two seasons of HBO's Tales From The Crypt (Cable-Ace Award nomination).  Then followed three seasons of The X-Files, when the cult hit show moved production to Los Angeles, where the Art Department team was recognized with an "Excellence in Production Design" Award from the Art Directors Guild.

Mr. Dagort was also Art Director for the third season of HBO’s Six Feet Under, for which he received his first Emmy nomination for Art Direction for a Single-Camera Series. 

Feature film production design credits include the action-packed Hard Target for director John Woo, and The Hunted for writer-director Jonathan Lawton and producer John Davis.

For ABC television, Mr. Dagort received his second Emmy nomination, this time for Production Design of Stephen King's Desperation, directed by Mick Garris. Mr. Dagort won an Art Directors Guild “Excellence in Production Design” Award for the design of this project.

Ariodante Productions was incorporated by Mr. Dagort in 1989.  The company continues to encompass all facets of his design work.
